Polish angler dies after Bundoran sea incident

The man was fishing off rocks in Bundoran when he was swept out to sea
A Polish man who lived in Northern Ireland has died after being swept out to sea at Bundoran in County Donegal.

The man was fishing off rocks near the seaside holiday town on Saturday evening when a wave hit him and knocked him into the sea.

He was rescued by the Bundoran Lifeboat crew but died later at Sligo General Hospital.

He is believed to have been living in the Enniskillen area.

Just saw this today, its very sad indeed. I have tried to talk to the foreign nationals before as well as our own anglers about having respect for the sea but the number of times ive seen them fishing of cliff tops or on rocky outcrops strewn with seaweed that will be covered at high tide beggars believe. They are putting their lives at risk as well as the volunteers of the RNLI, its only fish at the end of the day and not worth your life and certainly not worth the lives of the RNLI who have to risk theirs to save ignorant people.

These guys will take ridiculous risks for a fish
A few weeks ago we watched 11 FN`s on a Donegal rock mark getting battered by big waves just so they could get a feed!!
One of them was chest deep at one point when a bigger wave rolled in

He was standing where the arrow is pointing about 1 hour earlier!!!
We said it was only a matter of time before someone was killed taking stupid risks

Sad very sad thoughts go out to his family, Though i've seen it too many times before, hell in my younger days was guilty of the same bravado thinkin the sea wouldnt harm me  (yep i was an idiot) Theres nothing like the feelin of fishin a storm, BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR MARK, you have to know it inside out, I fish mainly the east coast and know several rock marks, but I also know they can even throw a freak wave at ya out of no where. this summer was fishin for macks, sea was choppy but nothin out of the norm, kept my eyes on the sea, and out of the blue a freak wave hit the rocks just under me!! The message has to be made clear freak waves dont have to be 50-100' tall to wash you off, even up to your knees, the pull of water is strong enough to wash you out!! In storms always head out in pairs and keep safe. I wear a flotation suite now, and the price i paid for it aint nothin compared to the price of seeing my family everyday, if your fishin rock marks get one, or life jacket

It didn't happen as much this year or possibly last year either, but for a couple of years up to that it seemed like an incident such as this was happening every month - foreign nationals unused to the sheer unpredictibility and power of the Atlantic Ocean were being washed away off rocks to their deaths.

I wonder if their embassies here shouldn't be asked to put out an advisory about the dangers for their citizens fishing here.

Anyone know any contacts in the Polish, Balkan and Baltic embassies?
