Renovation Work at Parkmore Pier Kinvarra Co Galway

Thu Oct 23, 2008 2:10 pm

I have spoken with Galway County Council's project manager in relation to the works being carried out at Parkmore Pier in Kinvarra. The pier was originally built on 4 meters of gravel and sand, this in turn made the pier completely unstable. In fact it's remarkable that it has actually survived to this day. The work that is currently underway was due to finish at the end of Oct 2008. However additional revenue is available to the planner and he intends to re-grout the pier and carry out renovation work on the stairwells. This means that a more realistic completion date is the end of November 2008. The pier when completed shall be safer to use for all and the dredging work that is being under taken aims to leave a surround of water pier side at low tide. I will be speaking again with the project manager at the end of October and he aims to have an accurate completion date by then.

good to know this info - so it seems it may not do too much damage with the dredging etc.
