Hi lads, I placed a an order on basspro.com and ordered 5 surface lures and a pack of jelly worms. The price came to 27.50 in euro(including shipping) so i was happy enough with that. Then i recieved an email saying "Please add 45% of your merchandise total (or a minimum of $40.00 USD) for shipping and handling charges. International shipping charges are not reflected in your order total" does this mean im going to be charged 40 dollers on top of the original price? I emailed the company and they wernt very helpful at all. Anyone here have similar stories? cheers,Ian

Be careful mate not only will they charge you the extra but when it gets to Ireland if they use Fed-ex or UPS they will also charge you for delivering. Got caught myself with a reel that looked to be half the price it was in Ireland turning out to be exactly the same price when everything paid i.e. 45% for shipping and then €53 for UPS.

Let me enlighten you, I know for sure that it depends on the price of the goods, if the value exceeds a certain amount (eg Euros 75) then excise duty will be added on - but sometimes you could have a lucky escape and nobody in the revenue Commissioners Offices checks it up :P basically it's depending on the amount of work and the day of the week and the time of the day and the mood of their boss and the moon phase, the seasons, if they got breakfast made from their wifes.... and god only knows why

Just after buying a bit of bulky gear from veals, the shipping was £20. This is the same shipping they charged me for a 5ft tripod, it may seem a bit steep, but it is a fairly quick delivery and its good to know that their charges for the bigger items is a standard rate.
