Nature of the beast JFK. We are a club of members from all over Ireland so we have to try do our best to look after all our members. Given the road network on the east coast Tramore, Morriscastle, Our Ladys Island and Antrim should be possible given the notice period. We had Comps on the east coast last year and some recieved a poor turnout. It's hard to convince someone on the west or south west to drive to the east coast for some scratching for small stuff. It's a lot easier to convince someone from the east coast to travel for the chance of some excellent fishing. Yes, there is some mileage for everyone, but given the locations and the possible fishing it's shouldn't be too difficult to convince yourself to Travel.

Thats grand Mac, I made the point in jest!!
I will try to get to a couple of them. Anyway, the saturdays make a great excuse to get away for a couple of weekends with the fiance....

No hassle JFK. I knew you made the point in jest. I was just trying to explain why we were fishing all the different venues. As you said, it's a great excuse for a good weekends fishing and maybe the odd pint.... 8) 8) 8)

I'll join up once I find out whether I find out wheather I'll be joining associate or full.

One thing looking at the carrigaholt high tide against my own tide tables it looks like you haven't added an hour for BST.

I make it 19:13 for high tide using ukho data-would that be right donagh?
if that is right maybe we should push the comp out an hour??

Tue Jan 17, 2006 5:24 pm

Jd,

THe high tide would be there or there abouts.

I'm no expert on the place but the few competitions I've fished here have fished well all through the flood tide. The times should be fine the way they are.

Lads,

Just looking at the dates for the 2nd and 3rd competitions. Did you deliberately choose bank holiday weekends? (Paddy's weekend and the May bank holiday).

I would have thought that people would have found it harder to make the comps on these weekends, rather than on normal weekends (or is that just me!!!!!).

choice of dates`

Hi Steve

If I recall, we debated this and felt that if we were to ask people to travel any significant distance, where possible we should allow them make a weekend of it, enjoy the local area etc. I know from my own perspective it makes life difficult in that with a family these weekends cost a premium!

Its a moot call whether people would prefer non-bank holiday weekends or not, and given we have to do this in advance of knowing what the membership will look like... however duly noted and we'll look at it again going forward. The true test will be how many people show up!!!

Thanks

No worries Kieran. Hoefully I'll still be able to make the comps!
