Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Mayo towards the end of October and was going to bring the old man! He's a fit 70ish. I was wondering if killary harbour is worth a go? I've fished little killary on a couple of occasions but was wondering about killary itself. Is it worth a try?
Also, if anyone wants to share any local knowledge of anywhere suitable I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Chreers!

the slopes around killary are dangerous, don't know how fit your old man is but the ground is very uneven - the fishing is terrible after the hike
how would float fishing round rosroe pier be - handy to get to etc. or lure fishing close by for a few Pollock
on the bottom round there is a killer due to the hard tube worms
at least on little killlary the bottom is not as snaggy

give the harbour a miss, exactly as corybyeire has listed it, sucking mud bottom and a network of tube worms - tackle graveyard.
Suggest you try the beaches or the headlands between them from White Strand up to Emlagh point into darkness (8 pm these days) and time it for the filling tide.
Whiting should be putting in an appear now on still nights. Had a few session last year and there were loads and to a decent size too...
Hope this helps, Kieran
