you can get bait in stanleys in clifden,he has sandeel, mackerel, sprats, squid, lug plus he is cheaper then Galway, when you get on to the one way system in clifden he is on the right at the bottom of the hill, white shop with blue signs
as paulmeleady said the white lady is good for ray, dogs, huss and wrasse, pollack, flat fish
the white lady fishes better around low tide
you can get the tides for clifden here http://www.sailing.ie/LinkClick.aspx?fi ... 2&mid=1277 add 5 mins for clifden
to get to the white lady take Ballyconneely road from clifden take and after you cross ovhaer the 3th bridge you will see a road to the right signposted for the alcock and brown monument take this road and follow it to the end to the boat harbour and park there, walk north until you come to a big white pillar this is the white lady, fish the clifden side of the piller
if you you do fish it at low tide be careful if you are fishing from the low rocks as the tide comes in around one of the rocks and will cut you off and then flood over the rock
another good ray mark can be found at the end of the beach road,to get to the beach road from stanleys go up the hill and turn left at supervalu and after the bank of ireland take the road that goes down hill, follow it to the end to the boat club and rnli station then take the path from the boat club back along the shore until you cross over the 3th stile and then walk down to the shore, this mark is both good on the incoming tide and outgoing tide,it is about 5 mins walk to this mark
if you want conger and huss there is a mark on the lower sky road,to get to the lower sky road first when you arrive in clifden you will see a petrol station on the right, you will turn right just before the station and then take the first road on the left, follow this road for a few miles and you will see the ruin of clifden castle on the left and a bit after that you will see a road to the left take this and you keep going until you can see the sea straight in front of you, there is a strip of land going out to a hill there is water on both sides of the land, you will also see a lot of small boats in the bay on the right side of the strip of land, you will see a small road to the left
you can park at the end of the road and start climbing up hill over a fence, its about 10 mins of a walk along the cliffs back towards clifden, you will see a rocky point facing you fish from the end of it,it can be a tackle grave yard but if you hook some thing it will be big
there are a few other great marks less then 15mins drive from clifden, let me know what species you would like to try for and I will try point you in the right direction
i will pm you my number if you get lost or need any information give me a call and don't forget to keep these marks secret
