keeping bait frozen

hey lads, im hopeing you can help here,
im heading fishing down around wexford next week, ive some valuable freshly frozen crab im bringing down, ive to do afew tings to do on my way down and as i dont drive im wondering,
whats the best possible way to keep it frozen till i get down there.
i have the box i got off martin when i ordered fresh bait, any use in that

well a standard cool box with a few ice blocks in it is the best way in my opinion -will keep bait frozen for hours.

as above a cooler box works well but insted of useing ice packs get a few empty coke bottels and fill with water and freeze them they stay frozen alot longer and when you have the box packed fill the rest of it with newspaper this is great for stoping the cold escaping therefor keeping your bait frozen longer

As above but start freezing them now the longer they are frozen the longer they take to thaw out

not really a solution but why not get martin to deliver you some on arrival in wexford saves you the trouble of carting it down and guarantees its in tip top condition upon recipt

wrap them up in lots of sheets of newspaper and ice packs/cool blocks. pack your coolbox well and dont leave it half full, pack the whole lot of it.
i find this keeps bait for ages and have had bait stay frozen in a cool box for 8-10 hours or more doing this.

Beg to differ . Once they have been brought down to the ambient temp inside the freezer and have properly frozen right through it won't make any difference how long they stay in there ( unless it's too long and they deteriorate ! ) .
If it takes more than about a day to freeze them properly they will deteriorate in the process ( bacteria and/or formation of long ice crystals which will make them mushy on thawing ) .
