I reckon The Old Head of Kinsale would be well worth a try . It bottle knecks a lot of fish travelling along the coast, is deep and sharks are in the area. If you made the effort of getting a box or two of fresh mackeral down to the shore and got a big slick going on a fine day you would be in with a great chance in my opinion. I would start putting rubby-dubby bags into the water at high tide and let the slick travel out with the ebb carrying the sent miles out to sea .
I've had encounters with Orcas 100 metres off the shore while out in the boat there so watch you don't bite off more than you can chew, ........also blues aren't the only shark that passes The Head either........

the last very fine summer we had i was jigging a few mackerel about 300 yards off ram head or ardmore head and a fine blue swam right by the boat maybe 60 or seventy pounds i was talking to local fishermen about and they reckon its a regular thing there

My brother in law caught a blue off the shore at salthill many years ago. It got tangled up on a string of mackerel feathers and he ended up lassoing it around the tail.
