I know that the record was taken at Keem bay and was wondering weather i should just cast out a Conger Trace with A whole mackerel hoping for Shark or Tope or even Conger and Rays OR would i be wasting my time.

have a look here for some idea of what you would be up against.
http://www.fishingfilmsandfacts.co.uk/Porbeagles%20From%20The%20Shore3.pdfyou would need an awful lot of patients and dedication. I will dig out a bit of research I did a while ago but it is estimated that shark numbers around the Irish coast have declined by anything from 70-90% since Jack was targeting them. Even getting a genuine sighting of a shark within casting distance may take some time.
