Species Help Please

i caught this last night pictures are bad i was hoping it was a launce but im very unsure!slippery little bugger black line on the dorsal fin any help would be hugley appreciated

I would say its a baby conger aswell. Size is right for a launce or a lesser sand eel, but the color seems wrong. We had a few of those last week from a boat and the top of them are more green/blue (almost like a mackerel) rather than the dark color on your pic.

Cheers for that lads :D !i know almost wanted to keep him :shock: !really did thing it was a launce or some type of eel i never imagined a baby conger being soooo small!

I was thinkin that as well Alan but do the silver eels not have more of a rockling/slug looking head? Seen a few caught in Courtown and they where just like really long rockling.
The way to a fisherman's heart is through his fly...
