I pier- fished next to a guy last week, one evening and caught a dozen decent pollock. We were both fishing on a float at the same depth with mackeral strips. Later, thinking about it, I wondered whether the fact that he was smoking might have been the reason. Anyone noticed this?

I think alan might be on to something here because I find I catch more when I'm smokin' the guy next to me, coz I'm leaving the bait in the water longer!

i just smoke more when i,m not catching, considering that spraying bait with wd40 can improve catches i dont think a bit of fag finger would do much harm

in fact the smoked cod prob preffer it

I heard from a fly angler that it can have an affect some fish will turn away from a fly if they smell tobacco on the fly so i would presume it could also have an affect on sea fish.
