Looking at a 50-100g rod

Would a 50-100g spinning rod be too heavy for most applicaitons? I'm looking at buying a travel rod in the Shimano range and I'm torn betwen buying the 50-100g or the 20-50g for general purpose fishing around the shore home and abroad.

Help Please!

20-50 rather than the 50-100 for Irish waters.

I thought it would be for spinning. But I noticed most bass rods are in the same range 2-4oz which would be about 50-100g, I take it this is more for bait fishing then?

Yeah, think of Bass rods as scaled down, handier sized beachcasters. Different animal to spinning rods.

I think the best solution is just going to be buying 2 rods! :)

Ok I have decided 2 rods is the solution!

Bought my first today - Greys Missionary 6 piece spinning rod, 10 foot 20-50g. Should hopefully cover a lot of situations and cover me for salmon on the rivers too. Nice and compact for taking on up coming trips too.

So for my bass/bait rod, what casting weight and length would you all recommend? I want something that will again lend itself to many different scenarios for shore fishing at home and abroad. I was thinking maybe 10-11 foot and casting weight 50-100g?
