see that rig in sea angler??! the one with the bells on it!!

what do yee make of that flounder rig with nearly one hundred beads on it??? i thought i was bad!

i saw it myself,its mad.about a yard of beads and bells and all sorts.having said that yer man had a nice flounder on it

yeah, that fella used the rig to cath the biggest flounder in the 'Taw' estuary 2 years running. he also wins most of the matches with it. i remember in sea angler magazine about 10 years ago there was a fellow that was reknowned for catching flounder in the Teigne on a rig with over a fivers worth of beads on it!

If it doesn't put the fish off it can't do any harm. Though there was no mention in the article of where he gets he gets his beads and the cost involved of all those beads.

Most toystores sell bead sets. I got one in Derry last year for £10 and I wont need to buy another bead for the rest of my life even if I was using rigs like yer man. There was I think 5 or 6 thousand(said on packet anyway) in the set with a wide range of sizes and shapes. Well cheap in the long run.

i think Veal's do a 100 pack for 1 sterling. you will get 20 in the local tackle shop for that price. 5mm. and 8mm(which i don't like myself, better used for playing football). beauty is that you can choose what colour you want or get a mixed bag. also have a look at the oval black and luminous ones. these are great! craft shops do a few hundred small beads of different colours which cost about 2 euro. the 3mm ones are great for making neat rigs. the odd one can break if you have used a rig a few times though, but this is rare.

Id have to say tho', with a rig like that you could find that it only works in a particular area - i fished a competition in wexford recently (kaats strand) and flounders were caught on all types of rigs - baits seemed to be the predominant factor. I was fishing in woodstown yesterdaw and caught a plump little flounder on a mackerel bait...........its a strange old world!

Hickeys is the cheapest place to get beads and sequins. Regarding Kaats strand I agree , people are catching fish on all rigs baits are the factor that counts

During the winter some of us fish the salt water creek near Shannon airport and catch most fish on mackerel strips and the bigger the strip the bigger the fish im sure there is some huge flounder in the Estuary.
We also catch smelt and whiting.
I fished one time on a beach in Waterford and my friend Tina was catching plenty of flounders on woodstown beach on mackerel baits
and the majority were big enough for the size limit for the competition.
Even when the crabs are molting in the estuary fish bait will outfish crab baits.

as stated somewhere in SA, red is the first colour to disapear, do the fish see a load of fish eggs to eat with all them worms hanging from the hooks????

has any one from this forum fished the Taw,? tanglerat???
