Hi Lads & Lasses
Done my ankle in again and am reduced to hobbling down to the beach... so I was wondering where you would all recommend if I was to look for a sting ray to add to my species list. I reckon somewhere between Clare and Kerry but any recent information would help much appreciated. Is it too late?
Thanks

Kieran,
Have you considered fishing around Derrymore and Camp jus toutside Blennerville in Kerry.
Bob Moss mention this in his book.
Don't know much about what is the best time of year to try and catch one.
But if you did'nt mind I wouls love to tag along?

I think I read a post recently stating that Stingray were being caught from Fenit pier possibly the viaduct section but which side I'm not sure.Myself and a couple of friends are visiting Dingle in a couple of weeks for 10 days fishing and we have not caught a Stingray either , so I would be interested to learn if they are still about and where!. :D

Kieran,
Stingray are being caught from Fenit on the viaduct best on a flood tide after dark but the best place is is behind the Tankard pub on the waay to fenit about 2 miles before the village on the Tralee side. There is a carpark just behind it.You need to go left for about 200 yards. This is best fished 2 hours either side of low on a spring tide as it is very snaggy close to shore.A cast of about 100 yards gets you over 2 sbmerged ledges.Rotten link recommended.Failing this the end of Derrymore island(not actually an island but a good walk out)in the same conditions is also fishig well for stingray with the bonus of some good huss.hope this is of some help.
