I will be in CLifden for a couple on days in the next few weeks. I would like to stock up with some west coast mackerel for the winter. As in football, Dublin mackerel is an inferior beast. I am thinking about hitting Salthill on the way home but have not fished there before.
I would be grateful in anyone could give me some info on where there is a reasonable chance of mackerel in this area. E-mail me privately if you do not wish to make a mark private. Thanks.

Have only done a small amount of fishing in Salthill but for what its worth I would try on the prom opposite the aquarium at high tide or from the slipway and the rocks beside the slip at low tide. Dont know when you are coming west but there are some decent high tides in the evenings of this week

mackerel are few and far between in saithill this year. you'll be better off trying the lighthouse at carraroe instead.

Or Spiddal... only been there twice yet this year and both times caught well into double figures, along with some nice sized pollock..

yep the mackerel are scarse in salthill at the moment but are slowly getting there... have caught most of the mack on float with a small treble hook(less chance of loosing the fish) hope to get out later today (if the girlfriend will let me) see how i go...
