don't get linched lampoon! get on the phone to the fisheries board and reported him. i am contacting a fellow in the fisheries board soon to find out what can be done about this kind of thing. why would anyone want to kill so many of these lovely fish? one or two is fair enough but 5?! to sell? did the guy look like he needed a new pair of trousers?

Poor guy. Mebbe he was really really famished. Mebbe he has a dozen kids to feed.

But probably he's a to$$er. Get yer posse together and go sort him!

Note: That last comment should not be taken as an endorsement of physical violence against anyone, even greedy bass-killing to$$ers, nor should it be read as an encouragement for forum members to indulge in to$$er-sorting.

There's a point, Kieran:

Could you set up a sticky topic or a seperate section for contact numbers, names and addys and areas of responsibility so that everyone will know who to call when they see something that needs reporting?

good idea about setting up the numbers to contact.I was walking on Fenit pier last night(wife and kids with me so no fishing)and saw a group of young lads dropped of by mummy in her flash merc who proceeded to kill every thing caught including spider crabs. Now while i'm not the greatest fan of these bait robbing buggers I do object to seeing them being thrown infront of passing cars and lorries and splattering the whole pier.On confronting these young lads about their behavior they turned quite abusive which was nice for my young kids to witness. Then ,when Mummy arrived back, she threatened to call the Guards and to report me.Now when it comes to the Guards believing plummy voiced mummy or tall, fat, shaven headed me I have my suspicions so I left it go But today I reported the incident to a senior member of Tralee Bay sac who will look into who I shuold contact in case of seeing this again.By the way their list of fish killed just while I was there included dogfish, joey mackeral, very small pout and an offer to kill an 8lb stingray cuaght by a neighbouring angler.Thankfully that offer was turned down an the stingray was returned alive.

little buggers....something has to be done about this kind of carry-on. too many anglers feel too strongly about it.

In the US behaviour like this is taken very seriously, ever since Jeffrey Dahmer was convicted of murdering/mutilating 15 people in the States and it was discovered that when he was young he liked to kill and torture animals. It's seen as an early warning sign towards future violent behaviour towards other people.

I'm sure these guys liked to kill fish too:

I'd be interested to know what the attitude of the authorities in this country is towards this type of behaviour, I wouldn't be very optimistic though.

Bigcol,

I just had a thought, If you find that there isn't much that can be done about needlessly killing fish or crabs, then you could contact the local litter warden, I'm sure that the mess/smell created by squashed crab on the pier would be classed as littering.

Kieran,
A list of litter warden contact details for costal areas could be a good idea too.

Give them a good hiding or clock them in the head with an oar. Works a treat :!: Failing this use a machine gun 8)
