Penn Extreme V series

The Suveran is expensive and I should hope they are decent rods. I am only talking about mine. They are the 'Workhorse' and are cheaper ABU rods. I question wether ABU actually make rods at all or does someone else like redwolf make them and then they stick the ABU logo on them... Anyway have not used the Suveran. As I said the blank on the 12lb Workhorse is excellent it is ony the stupid Butt joint on them (and many 12lb class rods from other manufacturers including Penn) that I have a problem with.

Was out fishing today, got down to the charter boat and what do I see? ABU flags, stickers and logos plastered all over it. Seems the skipper has been sponsored, and has loads of new ABU toys to play with!

I got to use the Suveran 12 lb all day, and what a fantastic rod it is! Light, responsive, sensitive and loads of backbone lurking in there too. Had a thornie to 8 lbs and a Smoothie to 7 lbs on it. Great fun.

RRP over here is £180, skipper says he can do me a deal for £120. Must phone around a few of the mail-order shops and see what they can do. I gotta get one, it's a beaut!

Mind you, I didn't notice much about the butt joint.

used the villian today for the first time, had a longer butt than im used to, but pleased with it, casted like a dream with a f/s. only thing as in a previous post is that the join is a bit tight, but that should loosen.....squ~
