Still no inspectors!

Yep just as I thought no one has met or seen an inspector checking shore fishing activities. Has the penny dropped yet!

Rockyb23 thanks for the update on the signs down south. Has anyone on the forum seen these signs on the east coast. I fish pretty much one beach consistently so forgive me if there are signs out there and I have not seen them just because I have not visited the majority of the marks.

Following my weeks holiday in Ireland I sent three letters to bodies that I thought would have an interest in either enforcing the law of the land, safeguarding the economic value of a recreational fishery, and preserving fish stocks be it for Irish or visiting anglers.

I sent a letter to the S.W. Fisheries board and the same letter (with a covering letter) to both the Minister for the Marine and the Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism.

I received the first reply today and I have to say I’m more than a little disappointed.
The Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism has responded saying that although he has noted the comments in the letter it was felt that it was more relevant to the Minister for the Marine so it has been forwarded to him! How more relevant could it be? I am a visiting angler.

Given the comments made previously (which I stated in my letter) about the decline in the numbers of anglers choosing Ireland for an angling holiday (Hello Minister but this is tourism!!!!) I would have thought that a little more interest would have been shown. As he is also Minister for Sport I would have thought that he would pay a little more attention the anglers’ view.
Perhaps he doesn’t regard angling as a sport.

I will be writing to him again to remind him of his job title.
