Here is John Hughes with a 9 lb Painted Ray taken on a friend's boat in Wexford on a flowing trace with a 3/0 hook baited with pollack (for want of mackerel!).  August 2004.

Here is Terry Jackson, with a Skate estimated at 196 lbs taken aboard Sean McKay's boat out of Ballycastle on the 26th July.  Sadly it was submitted too late for the competition!  July 2004.

Taken off Tory Island on the "Cricket" with Pat Robinson, this is a small Anglerfish and not a Monkfish!  The captor was Damien Hamilton on a leadhead spinning a mackerel belly strip.  Double click for the full picture. August 2004.

Another fishing family, here is a nice Tope taken by Val Atkins from Paddy Burke's boat, the "Seka" on the Shannon.  August 2004.  Almost certainly a male pack fish, it tipped the scales at around 25 lbs and was released unharmed.  August 2004.

Prizewinner!  Here is Pat Hicks with a fine 20 lb specimen Thornback Ray, taken off the banks off Greystones aboard the Durty Fecker II. Half a fresh mackerel flapper on a 10/0 hook on a wire trace was used and it was not far from shore either... August 2004.

No keeping a good man down.  Here is Luke Scully again with another (40 lb) Courttown Tope, taken off the "Durty Fecker II" using a half fresh mackerel flapper on a 10/0 hook.  Wire trace was also used: all the fish were returned safely.  August 2004.
