From
May 2004, above St Mullins on the Barrow, here is Bill Ryan's brother,
Fintan, with a superb speciment 1.45 kilo (3.19 lb) Thwaite Shad, reward for
a 3 am start for the trip across from Clare. They only run the
river in late April and May each year; - now you know!

Bill Ryan is at it again! This time he has used a 11ft. Penn Millennium Spin Rod, Penn Prion Spin Reel, 10lbs. Maxima Line and a 32 gram Dexter Wedge to take this beautiful 3.18 kilo (7 lb) Bass from near Carrigaholt in Co. Clare. September 2004

The Bass are definitely in and how is this
for a first ever fish! Steve Lynott broke his duck with a superb
3.57 kilo (7 lb 14 oz) Bass from Reenroe Beach in Co Kerry taken spinning
with a small plug in less than 1 metre's depth of water. September 2004.

You
will have to watch for this lad in the competitions soon! Here is
Darragh Hughes again with a fine 1 kilo + (2.5 lb) Codling from the
north beach in Greystones in Wicklow. It fell to a mackerel bait
cast only 30 metres. The codling are in early this year! September 2004.

Making
the best of a break in the bad weather around the Blue Pool near Doonbeg
in Co. Clare, Bill Ryan took this specimen 2.48 kilo (5.47 lb) Ballen Wrasse. It
fell to a crab biat on a Zziplex 12ft. beachcaster, Penn 525 loaded with
30 lbs. Maxima. September 2004

Here
is a real rarity - a blue whiting. A deep water species, my thanks to
Paul in the UK for the photograph. It is available in
Irish waters. I will add it to the species guide but for those of
you fishing in deep water with a redgill for Pollack, that is how it was
caught!
