What's everyone shooting with?

Just wondering what cameras people here are using? Are there many dSLR users?
Me I'm using a Nikon D50, although I'd love to upgrade to a D200. Have the kit lens 18-55mm, an old 28-100 and a 70-300 zoom, and just back from New York where I bought a 50mm f1.8 for arty stuff and a Sigma 10-20mm wide zoom for landscape shots. Also bought some filters. Reckon I paid about half what it would have cost here... :)

So for the serious photographers out there, what do you use? Do you have a favourite lens for certain work?

I'm using a canon 350d with a tamron 18-200mm lens . also have a polariser ,nd 8 and uv filters .
The lens is great as it covers most situations well, from wide angle which is perfect for confined spaces like small boats and up close id photos out to 200mm telephoto for wildlife( and spying on other anglers :lol: ) without having to carry around different lens and choppin and changing lens,doing away with the dirt on the sensor as easily as well .

I've got a Fuji S9600. Its only a bridge camera but more than enough for my needs.(still trying to learn to use the feckin thing though :roll: :oops: ) :lol:

I like my landscpae photos, so I have a few Circ polarisers and some ND grad filters plus uv filter as well. Didn't do much landscape stuff last year, but I'll start again this year.

On the wish list is a Tokina 12-24mm. I have heard nothing but good reports on this lens and it's less than half the price of a Nikon 12-24mm.

For the bulk of my pictures, especially on the boat, I use my trusty Sony DSCP10, great little camera and has put up with some abuse.
Am trying to get to grips with a Sony Alpha A100. Have a couple of lenses for this.

It's tough going when you are not really into photography. These DSLR's have so much that can be done with them.

I'd love to get my hands on a 10-20 lens to see what it could produce on the boat.

my fishing camera is an old cannon 2 mega pixel cost 225 pounds years ago it,s taken loads of knock,s got wet loads of times and is still going strong put it on auto and click , who wants to be messing around with settings when some poor fish is gasping for water :shock:

i use a Fujifilm/finepix A330/3.2 mega pixel, have it a few years now think it cost me around 275 yo yos. great we camera, cant fault it...

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7, only ever used it on the simple settings though... :oops:

Nice setup there Kev, wouldn't mind a D80 myself. I always have UV filter on for outdoor shots, and often circ polariser as well. Bough a couple of ND grads in NY last week too, looking forward to seeing how they improve my shots. Was at a camera club meeting last night and a guy from Navan was displaying some of his landscapes, absolutely stunning stuff, made me really want to get out and take better photos this year...

I'd love to get my hands on a 10-20 lens to see what it could produce on the boat.

using Pentax optio WP 5 mega pxl,quality-good enough for me,what i like is -its watter proof up to 1.5 metres,so there no rain bother me on top of that i use to cast it in Howt from the rocks in to the sea,no problems,also casted in to lakes as well,tryed to put under ice but battery goes off stright away :(

I have the waterproof olympus 790sw camera havent tested it yet under water but it was alright in the cold had it in my jacket pocket when it was -15 and it was still able to take a few pictures. My phone was dead from the cold though.

copes with cold no problems too,but once put under ice-few second and its gone,then you take it out it comes back full again...

Strange? No idea whats causing that the cold and the wet doing something maybe.

Normally use a fuji fine pix. drops on a strap inside the waders and there when you need it. Recently bought a panasonic lumix dmc-fz8 in my quest to get an amazing shot of the irish lights vessel servicing a buoy just south of wicklow head. this time of year with the sun low near the horizon the ship just seems to sit on the sunlight with the sea lapping in a secondary position with the old lighthouse on the head providing a very cool back drop. Guess you would have to be there to imagine it :?
The camera im sure is up to the job. The operator however is struggling!!!
Whats the best way to get the hang of them? Could spend a life time experementing but the sun gets higher every day!! Local night classes dont seem to offer a dedicted digital camera course. Whats the solution lads :? :? :? :? ??????

you could try putting it in manual and setting the iso at its lowest setting then take a few practise shots adjusting the shutter speed and apeture to see what gives you the effect you want . at least with digital your not wasting film .

What type of ND grads did you get? ND grads are fantastic for landscapes. They can really bring a sky to life, insead of the usual over exposed scene.

Here's one of mide with a 0.6ND grad.

Serious wouldnt even think of fishing in those conditions :shock: mental stuff.
