Anyone heading to a local mark/beach this weekend if the weather is alright ?

Not sure of the tides - any info appreciated + any tips on a good spot between Dun Laoghaire and say, Greystones (although I might go a little further if it's a v good mark).

Back of the east pier for pollack with jelly worms or sorrento nudey beach its called hawk cliff on the vico road but watch out for the old naked men there will be loads of them with the nice weather!! Should be some pollack around now.

I meant the west pier.

Jack, whats the ground like on the back of the east pier at D.L :?:

Is it suitable for bottom fishing without losing a months worth of tackle :roll:

And would it be any good for spinning for Pollack, or would you recommend jellys (or is it the same thing and just a different type of lure :?:

I havent really done any spinning/lure fishing so my understanding of the right phrases is a bit limited sorry? :oops:

Im pretty sure it fairly rough close in lots of kelp and I think there is a ledge as well that you can get caught up on further out I think its clean just watch out winding back in. Loads of stuff about using jellys here http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... 59&start=0

Plugging you use lures like rapalas and poppers and you have to impart some action into them where as spinning you have weighted lures like dexters wedges or german sprats and just wind them back in.

Your probably right, had a quick bash at spinning off the back of D.L pier yesterday evening and caught my first pollack, and boy was she a mighty fish.....all of 10 inchs 8)

But I suppose, start with the babies and work up to the bigger fish....am I right :lol:

You should be able to get them in Mikes Bikes in Dun Laoghaire or Baumanns in stillorgan. Id ring them to see if they have any.

If you dont have much time for lunch try ragworm sandwiches, make them at home before your session and simply unwrap them when hungry, a great snack on the go :wink: :wink: :wink:
