It looks like a bit of settled weather coming up for the weekend
so i've booked Colin Barnes' boat
http://www.whalewatchwithcolinbarnes.com/index.htmlTo head out to the far off wrecks looking for specimen whitefish.
Previous report from the boat is here
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18950At the moment, myself and luke aston are definates for the trip so looking
for a few others to split the cost, please post here if you are interested

Hi jw,I would be up for a trip out with Colin if there was a space free.If there was an extra space my partner would more than likely come if you needed to make up the numbers. We are only about 30 mins away.

I have to pass on this

I will confirm the exact details of departure with the skipper a few days before departure
when the forecast can be relied upon and post here. I'd assume 08:00. The cost of the
trip to the far off wrecks is 550 euro and from the posts here we should have enough
lads to bring the cost under 100 each. The catamaran can fish 10 without tangling.
boycie, ill be coming from clare i cant give you a lift, can lend you rod and reel no probs

Hi JW
I am not a regular contributor to this site, but I am registered and I would be interested in taking part in the trip. I live in Cork , about an hour away. Have all the gear and would be interested in travelling.
Cheers

the fairest way is to give out places based on the order people posted here. There
looks like enough lads the cost will be reasonable

Im getting excited now, the forecast looks ok. The boat is leaving reen pier (map on colins site)
at 8am sharp, so meeting time is 730 so we can load all the gear.
it is 2 hours steaming to the best wrecks which are in around 100 - 108 meters of water,
recommended reel line 30 or 40 pound braid, 10 or 12 oz leads
one lure that works well is 4 or 5 inch orange shads, 6 to 8 foot mono trace and a non
tangle plastic boom. We will try and pick up fresh mackerel which might or might not
be there, so it is advised to bring some frozen. We might anchor up as well for ling or
congers.
it is planned to fish till around 1730 and then its a 2 hour steam home

Pat from the site can make it as well, so we are now eight which I think should
be the maximum
jw, luke, last cast, boycie, wrassebasher, brian duggan, red eric, Pat
The skipper has advised that eight to ten can fish on the boat provided
all are experienced boat anglers and using the recommended 30/40lb
braid reel line. If anyone shows up trying to fish with a heavy mono outfit
in 108 meters of water, they will tangle all the time and everybody's fishing
will be ruined, but i don't think this applies to any of us!
I will post here on saturday to definately confirm the trip goes ahead in case there
is a sudden unexpected change in forecast, the meeting time is 0730
for departure 0800 sharp from reen pier

An hour and a quarter from the city I've been realiably informed, but give yourself a bit extra. Also have a look at Colin Barnes website as he has a map showing directions from Union Hall to Reen Pier. Give Rederic a pm as he knows directions and has gracefully given me his mobile in case I get lost.
