2 good spots I've found in Connemara are the beach at the SE corner of Mweenish Island (rays, low water), and Roundstone harbour wall (rays and dogs, high water).

Ventry

Fished Ventry Last Summer and had a great time. One excellent Mark that proved best was An Baid (Local Name) - lies just outside ventry on the Slea Head Road. Travel out of Dingle towards Ventry pass through Ventry heading for Slea Head (On Past Paidi O'Shea's Pub) Keep on the Coast Road until you pass the Antque Shop/Archaelogical Musem on your left, around bend to your left.

Firstly there is a lane on your left, this leads down to an old pier (apparently used for the blaskets before Dunquin was upgraded). Good fishing here, big Wrasse, usual Makerel and Pollock. For the Mak and Pollock you will have to try get to the rocks beyond the pier gully (You will know when you see it).

For An Baid (The Boat), continue past this laneway and park at the next Cattle Gate on your left. There is room for a car either side of the gate - Don't Block It!

Leave the car and walk along the road until you come to a gap/gate in fence (about 25-50 yards not far). You will see the remains of an old lane/road cutting across the field in front of you. You, the road is aiming for the cliffs at this point, you should be able to see it arcing around to the right and rising towards the Slea Head Drive.

Go through the gap and head across the fields straight towards the cliff edge, there is a gap in the ruined walls either side of the old road. When you get to the cliff edge, follow the cliff path to the right and you willl see a path going down. Carefull here, clamber down the path - not too difficult as the rocks are stepped, but there is a long drop to the left. Round to your right and you will see An Baid. Large slope of Rock about 50 yards by 10 sloping down to the waters edge under the cliff. Excellent Platform for fishing woth access to deep water (A

Saw Specimen Wrasse (on crab bait) and Specimen Garfish (makerel strip) taken from here. Caught plenty of Makere/Pollack myself. Looks like an excellent spot for Conger fishing, but would have to be careful re the climb back up at night. Will visit again.
