Surfcast Welsh International - Video footage

Postby MAC » Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:45 am

Hi Guys,

Here are some videos from the Surfcast Welsh International held recently.

First up we have our Own Andrew Gormley (AG) casting 150g.
Andrew came third overall in the 150g class... And was narrowly pushed to 4th at the 125g. Well done mate.

Next up is Keith Stafford (Kstaff) at 150g

As soon as I have some video of Marty and Chris I will post it to this thread.

Last but not least here is a few of Danny Moeskops trying to hit an overhead airplane.

how do the competitions work? can u choose any rod and reel set up u like, choose ur own line and leader. are u only governed by lead weight?

and what set up did that danny moeskop chap use?

Hi Dave,
they are run in diff weight catergories, as set by the UKSF/CIPS
http://www.uksf.sea-angler.org/rules.html

Weight/line classes are:

200g- main line 0.35 shockleader 0.75
175g- main line 0.35 shockleader 0.75
150g- main line 0.31 shockleader 0.75
125g- main line 0.28 shockleader 0.65
100g- main line 0.25 shockleader 0.65
75g- main line 0.25 shockleader 0.65
50g- main line 0.25 shockleader 0.65

if there are alot of casters attending they may break you up into two groups, and one by one you stand up to the oche and belt one down but must be in court which is set with a measured centre line and two outer lines set at 30-degrees from the centre line on each side, then place you rod on a rack and the next guy goes and does the same untill all have cast then it just a matter on winding in as you walk up the court to where your lead has landed, take a measure and as you beat that you move your measure up and so on,, thats it in a nut shell really.

Danny was using a 16ft Century rod that had "special" written on it not sure if it was a "Big Danny Special TT-R" or not but the carbon did not look like any other century ive seen him use before.
His reel is a self tunned Abu 6600w (the "w" stands for wide) these can be got in either black-max or promax versions "IF" your lucky enough to come accross one these days,,,

I hope this explains it for you.
