Ive not used one myself, but I know a few of the Yanks who have and they swear by them.

I'm told you have to make sure they are used properly though, a little out and they are counter-productive.

I tried to get my hands on one recenlty, Southside did have one but they had sold it shortly before I got there, you've reminded me to have a go at getting one again. I find a major problem with the FS casting is the ping when I let the line off the finger, causes a major rattle up the action of the rod.

I just got off the phone with Des in Southside cos he'd mentioned to me before that they had had some thumb cannons in the shop. He has none left says he couldn't give them away in the past, in any case he'll phone the supplier and see can he have some in for the middle of next week.
I'll update the thread here if I get my hands on some.

I used one if these for awhile. you can really hit them hard once you get used to it which doesn't take long. I removed it as I have a habit of switching from fixed to multiplier and low to high on all my rods and got peeded off taping in back on again.
I'm still not convinced if it would damage the line after awhile.

Paddy pm me your address and I'll post it to you.

Being using the breakaway cannon for the last 2 years on my FS rod. I highly recommend it, especially if you're using braid. Just remember to give it an extra couple of turns on the trigger or it will slip.
