Was at Duncannon and sandeel bay, very slow. Conditions were bad, targeting hounds, only hit 2 in 4 attempts, plenty of dogs and the odd hound from Duncannon, sandeel bay quiet. Decent bass (10lb) being caught at Dollar bay, lumsdens bay and Bannow.

I fished 2nd , 3rd, ,4th and 5th of August. Days evenings and overnight, very poor. Fresh peeler, squid and mackerel. Smoothies were 6 lb and 7 lb mark

Found that booley and dollar don't really produce--I've blanked before and caught a mini sole one day at booley. Seems to be a good lure mark.

Carnivan has supposedly thrown up a variety of species and I'd presume you could tap into bass and hounds there. Weather's been awful as of late though

As Teegerstk says, Dollar and Booley bays are lure ground. Smaller tides from the ricks and it is intensive for the end results but fished right they're producing.

One thing I've noticed is that the air pressure has been fairly low over the past few weeks, also the hook peninsula and parts of the estuary were rougher than usual. There was a guy. I met on two of the nights, he travelled from WellingtonBridge area ti fish the full night tide all the way out for Bass using fresh peeler. I think he abandoned the idea first night, but he was fishing the following night although I don't know how he got on? He said he generally will fish that way during or after a southerly blow.

Also John if you're staying in fethard then Grange beach towards bannow has to be worth a shot. Heard of smoothies and Ray from there, and of course bass. I'm not too sure about the tides but I'm sure you could find info on here about it.
Of course the beaches around Kilmore are well renowned for specimen smoothies too- furlongs road, ballyhealy etc. I was down on cullenstown a few days ago and the amount of weed on the beach was insane, a few literal mounds of it one of which was 2 feet high- fishing would be a nightmare! Not sure how long it'll take for things to go back to normal there's been a good bit of rain recently, although I'm probably out tonight so I'll report back on the weed situation and if I even catch anything. Best of luck next week

Just a follow up- blanked this evening but the tide didnt exactly suit and I didn't expect much really owing to the weather. I more so went out to christen the new reel although cracked off for my efforts! Weed levels went from "f*ck this" to non existent so hopefully you'll see more of the latter. Good luck
