small boat fishing Cahersiveen

Postby Groberts » Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:34 pm

Three boats with six anglers from Morecambe Dingy Angling Club will be arriving in Cahersiveen on 1 September for a weeks fishing. We did the same last year and the previous year fished from Baltimore. We caught lots of Pollack, Mackeral and a few other species such as wrasse and Bull huss.
I was hoping someone could give us some local info to help us catch other species.
of paricular interest would be Bluemouth,Triggerfish, various Rays, Turbot, Breams etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Donal, but this means nothing to me. I have been asking around for help with it but no success so far. I should have said Morecambe Dingy Angling Club is based in Lancashire, England. We will be bringing three dinghies on the ferry from Heysham to Dublin and then towing down to Cahersiveen on Saturday. We will most likely launch on Sunday morning and travel back on the next Saturday.
Does using this link require a computer on board as well as a plotter?
Thanks again for your reply, I hope to talk to someone more knowledgeable than me before arriving.

Jim Clohessy would be a useful man to talk to, or failing that the people who rent the boats in Cork Harbour - anyone got their name? Think they own a small hotel as well?

When you download the link it will open in Google Earth so you can zoom in and out to view the sea bed. you will be able to pick out features and get the gps numbers of them.
I fish that area about two or three times a year.
this is a screen shot of what you would be seeing on Google earth.

thanks Donal,
I have downloaded Google Earth but cannot get the attachment to open in it. I promise we will not pass on any marks outside the 6 of us coming over for the week. I do not seem to have rights to PM but I can read yours.

Thanks Donal, you have been most helpful.
One of the lads coming over has managed to load the link you supplied. He was not available initially as he has been fishing for tope in southern Scotland.
We used the Cahersiveen marina last year and will be doing so again.
We are very grateful for your information,it should make our trip even more enjoyable.
Graham .
