I did hear of the odd smooth hound been caught off Youghal beach over the last two years. They were accidental catches they have not travelled this far west yet.
The same story in the boats in Cork harbour the odd accidental one been caught.
The east cork beaches would not be the best for huss or thornbacks
You could try Youghal beach or the Garryvoe beaches for painted ray. Both these venues are dusk to dark venues and fish very poorly in daylight. By September the painted rays will be coming on the these beaches.
