I got to the venue for about 11.30 pm baited up a full mackerel and cast out as far as possible. 4 hours had past and it was coming up to slack water without even a sniff so in a desperate effort I baited up with a petty small mackerel bait to try and get Some extra distance before the dogs start feeding over slack water. I made the cast set the rod in the stand and while I baited my spare rig my ratchet screams picked up the rod fish on as the fish ran up and down the beach all I could think of was how the fook am I going to lad her as I was fishing alone but fortunately she managed to beach herself. After a quick photo she was released.
