Conger hunt part two

Postby MC » Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:11 pm

Well another chance came up so off I went into Donegal but to a different pier this time. Got set up and first cast I landed a nice coalie, my lucky night, but alas no it was very quiet. Landed 4 fish in 4 hours of fishing on the scratching rod,the coalie, a pout and two whiting. The weather was wet at times with strong gusts but I was wrapped up warm and dry waiting on mr conger to show up, feed the crabs most of the night lost a rig or two but my patience was rewarded with a reel screamer of a take, picked up the rod waited on the second run and bang fish on, couple of head shakes and he is gone. Fresh bait dropped down and as I was putting away the other rod the reel screamed again, moved quick as possible in a floatation suit to get the same treatment, the bait was well chewed so the conger was there but not taking the hook. Nothing after that but lumps of weed so once the ebb started I headed home to a warm bed. Conger fishing can be frustrating. Until next time
