Surprise catch @ Greystones

Postby florinc20 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 1:42 pm

Hi Lads,

Thought this surprise catch is worthwhile sharing so here goes with my first report:

Arrived at the spot last Sunday at about 9.00AM...weather quite dry even few sunny spells, not really windy. Water was calm enough...just few ripples and clear. Low tide was at quarter to 8 so I fished all way to high water.
I was targeting pollock and maybe a bass on lures.

After about an hour of fishing...I didn't had any bytes...and then a good hit on the lure and I was hooked into a nice fish. Once landed I was amazed to learn (via google) that it was actually a tub gurnard...my very first.
Kept fishing for another few hours and got a couple of small pollocks, macks (quite small though) and ...no bass. Having that tub gurnard however put a big smile on my face.

All fishes returned to live another day (except few macks that made it to dinner :D )

here are some pics...if i manage to upload them

Thanks all!

Very few macks and really small unfortunately. Wasn't using feathers though...

There were a couple of lads beside me using feathers but with little luck still.
