For anyone thinking of giving the beach a go.
This was fished about 100yds down to the right of the car park. I was the last peg on the beach next to the big boulder that is high up the beach. I was hiding behind the Pajero beach buddy
so I'm not sure how the others were fishing and at what stage of the competition their fish were caught. I had my first fish at 18:30
and only reeled in twice after that without a fish on. Ruairi, who fished on the next peg, and myself used a bucket of water to keep them alive while waiting to record them. I can guarantee that all the fish went back alive.
This should be compulsory in all competitions.
Best baits for me were lug and crab on a 3 hook flapper and size 4 hooks. For the last cast I did change to size 1 hooks and a lump of mackerel for a dogfish. I love it when a plan works
. All baits were cast out between 20 and 30yds.
