Petition against the Salmon farms

Postby corbyeire » Mon Feb 23, 2015 4:03 pm

Minister Coveney has stated that he will make up his mind on the salmon farm issue before the summer

please sign the below petition against the salmon farms

they will do nothing but destroy Galway Bay and if it gets in there first - no doubt all 10 farms will go ahead up and down the west coast

these things are massive, polluting, provide no real local jobs and fulfill one purpose really - that is the dividend of the investors - the fish are even unlikely to be sold on the Irish market, most ear marked for China

you can say good bye to all fishing in these areas - not just the salmonids

Done, but I suspect this one is going to Europe to be sorted out as the Min has already made his decision....

Done - but it looks like it could do with a few more signatures, any way of publicising this locally?

Shore based contained salmon farming is the way to go. Even the 'great leader' promotes it ! See http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picture ... me=3316205

Yes ! Just a risk that BIM may apply for a smaller version of the salmon farm after the election. Smaller could become larger with time. However, good for now.

yes - id say the current ones will be stuffed to capacity also

wish the new eu stipulations covered measured used in salmon production to prevent disease etc. and not just feed to qualify for "organic" salmon - such a poor prodcut but believed to be healthy and sustainable by most of the population
