Slow Sinking/Suspending Lures

Hi Lads,

I have had little experience with either of these as most of my hard plastic fishing last year was done with floating shallow diving lures, and I was wondering which slow sinking or suspending lures others favour and why? I recently got a Duo Tide Minnow 90s and was very impressed with how it looked and reacted in the water. Any suggestions on my next purchase of a slow sinking or suspending lure would be welcome.

If your recognising similarities between Lucky Craft and Illex, it's because original lure designer worked first for LC and was then encouraged to move to Illex very early in the game.

Compare say the flash minnow to the smash minnow or even the two above - interesting

Thanks Jims. I was looking at the Mag Squad, think i will have to try one out. The Lucky craft pointer will definitely fit the bill too.

I use the Rapala Xrap XR10's suspending and have had great success with them, i had my biggest bass on the XR10 silver Rap last year. The smallest of twitches sends them nuts and the tieser tail gives a great action in the water. On a strait retrieve they have great side to side motion and give off great reflective flashing light. When you stop reeling the tail STILL moves slowly . The best time for a take seems to be when you start to reel again after a pause. I see lads fishing for bass and they cast then reel in , cast then reel in all day but they don't work the lures and then they wounder why they don't catch fish. The little twitching then suspending on these lures is deadly. Get one there the bizz.

ilex water monitor is a great slow sinking lure

Alright lads,, either great minds think alike Or fool seldom differ ! I have also just purchased two suspending lures recently - lucky craft pointer 100 (ghoSt minnow) and Sakura bainer 105 (metallic ayu) . No idea how to work these baits but would imagine 'sink and draw' or 'crank and twitch' maybe ?

As there are suspending lures pause every 10 turns of the handle for a second but Vary your retrieve.
