Report: We met up in O'Donoghues, Fanore, picking up any bait etc that was needed in "Siopa Fán Oir " opposite. It was decided that we'd be fishing around peg 45 or so at Ballyreen, so after a ten minute drive or so we were clambering down the rock to the mark.
Lovely venue to fish, especially in the fine weather. All the clouds were in the distance over Connemara, with blue skies above us.
At 1pm, baits were sent into the water, at various distances from the shore. I had a bite first cast, but snagged up on the way back in. In fact, I got 1 of my first 6 casts back. I decided to change tactics, using a flat lead, and not going so far out. I managed wrasse and pollack for my efforts.
JP and Sean were mainly trying out at distance, getting Dogs and a ray, with wrasse when the dropped short, while Keith was keeping close in.
At the end of the afternoon it was clear that man JP had won again.
I couldn't fish day 2, so hopefully the results/report will be up in the next day or two.
