Wights needed for bouncing SPs with the tide- estuaries

Fri Jan 31, 2014 3:05 pm

Hi lads, what range of jig head weights would cover me for bouncing soft plastics down a tidal current e.g. estuary? Have not done this type of fishing before and just want to make sure I have the right weights.
Obviously I know it will vary with tide strength and venue, but if someone could ballpark a range for me, it would be very helpful.

Take a range between 3g and 25g...You'll know the right weight on the day...

If it's sp your using. Get a weighted hook. There about €4 for 3

Kind regards

Hi shortcircut,

I have been looking into this myself with the intention of doing a lot of this type of fishing this year. So far the general consensus seems to be 5g for when there is little or no current up to 21g when the tides are at their strongest and in full flow. The most common weight of jig head seems to be 10 to 12g. Hope this helps.

Tom.
