Best Ire-UK rod for fishing mediterranean beaches style?

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Best Ire-UK rod for fishing mediterranean beaches style?

Postby loboestep » Tue Jun 04, 2013 4:26 pm

What ire-uk rod (two piece) do you think is the best for fishing in clean beaches, with a weight of 125g, very fine lines (between 0.18 and 0.25 and shockleader). Lightweight but very powerful because the fish need to search far and to fight fish up 5kgr, finally have a magnificent bite detection ..... Just looking at couple of rods for mediterranean sea ...

Now I have a couple of Zziplex Profile for fixed spool, but I wonder if there is something more suitable ... for a relaxed cast...otg, brighton or pendulum in which the rod do most of the work ... The Profile requires strong hit, I do not think it's a progressive cane ...

Some cone-flex ... maybe ..??

Thank you.

next one: Conoflex Flattie Fanatic 11ft 2-4oz
http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... SS:IE:1123
unbeatable, one of the most universal rods ever made, I even use it for pike or bass fishing :)

or, last but by no means least, the Zziplex 2500 LM - which has the proud legacy of being called "one of the best match rods to date".

you're spoiled for choice now I'd say :)

All fine rods but mostly better suited to Multi use and if u plan on using super fine line, multi is not practical.

The current trend in UK and Irl are 3 piece continental styles rods, super light great tips and bags of power, used to great success by both Ireland and Wales teams fishing abroad.

Trabucco, Colmic and Yuki to name a few of the current brands available. New super slim continental style rods far more suited than old donkeys from 20 years ago, rod technology has moved on and there are far better options available IMO.

Remember small delicate baits at 150 yards are not going to do too well pendulum style casting a 13-15ft rod. Overhead thump can achieve amazing distances with ease on a fixed spool rod and reel with appropriate line! Far better option.

Best of luck in your search but id certainly look closer to home for suitable options for your local beaches.

Regards.

:D Closer to home in rod type,

Zziplex and Conoflex aren't based in Ireland either so possibly Geography class required too!

Yes I know, but both use those rods...

I have a pair of shimano super aero technium cx-g, very light and with power....but do not have that special touch of English rods.

Most of the Zziplex rods in Spain are sale by http://efishsell.com/ (Irish Store...)

Try tubertini. Have a good range of continental style matchrods, with differing tips, (3) 1- 3 ozs. Very light to hand and hold, ideal with braid & fixed spool
