People:harry and I

Duration:6 hours

Tide:flood/ ebb

Weather: ok

Bait:rag mack lug squid crab

Rigs:various

Results:(8) species,LSD's,pollack,whiting,dab,poorcod,Tub gurnard,Grey gurnard,ballen wrasse.

Report: managed to get out for a few hours after the torrential rain cleared up  launched to see the Queen mary 2 anchored in the middle of the bay so the first stop was out beside her for a few pictures, some size of a ship when you get up to her very impressive managed to get a few nice snaps, then it was off for a spot of fishing plenty of action from the start mainly dogs and a few dabs with the odd whiting soon got fed up at this spot then we went further afield back to the good old gurnard mark where my specimen tub came from, again dogs and dabs were on the scene after about an hour har pulled in a nice little tub happy with that we upped anchor to to go after a few pollack didnt have to wait too long and we were both into fish nothing big 40cm been about the best but numbers made up for the small sizes.
at this stage time and tide was starting to slip so we went after a few rock bream  again from the start we were into plenty of action great to see things hotting up again nothing big but plenty of them 20odd between us in a short time, also picked up a couple of poor cod on the second rod, another quick moove heading home we got a couple of baby grey gurnards, we came in gust as the QM2 was lifting anchor, another reasonable days fishing 8)

You're doin great already. Very envious of your flat seas - a rarity over here these past few years.

you would want too have been out there today Hugo mirror calm for as far as the eye could see very slack tides didnt make for very good fishing either, but a fantastic day to be out all the same

Just a small Cod in Dalkey sound. Had some Pollack, Wrasse and whiting on Friday evening. Planning on doing plenty of evening trips around Dun Laoghaire/Dalkey this summer. If I have half the success that you have I'll be satisfied.

persistance will pay off in the long run rob, one thing for sure is if you sit at home wondering what the fishing might be like out in the boat you wont catch anything ;-).sure you never know i might see you out there.

I like catching big fish as much as the next man, and Dublin is not the best county for catching big uns, but there's sport to be had out there. I've been using a 10-30gm spinning rod and it's great craic.
