Dublin Boat Marks (IMELDA) 30/4/13

Postby JOHN1 » Thu May 02, 2013 6:22 pm

Vessel:IMELDA

Crew:Harry and myself

Duration: 12 to 6.30pm 6.5 hours

Tide:flood/ebb

Weather:fine with cool varible breeze

Bait:lug rag squid mack herring crab

Rigs:various

Results:5 species, Dabs, whiting, dogs, pollack, and sea scorpion.

Well is been a while coming but managed to get back out for a spin in the boat today, hard to beleive i have not been out since the start of january. the target today had to be dabs, i had to try get a score on the card,so off and out we went didnt have to wait long for the dabs within a couple of minutes the first of many (about 30) came aboard not big but a dab that counted, best i had was a slab of a fish that came in at a whopping 23cm we also managed the usual pins not in huge numbers and a few dogs.
headed in search of a few more species but things were very slow apart from a few small pollack upto about 1.5lb and a sea scorpion. heading back to harbour we stopped of for a while again managed a couple of pollack but were persecuted by them poxy seals again 3 of them, why arnt they on the shooting list all in all it felt great to be able to get myself back on the water hopefully there will be more to come

how ya derek, was only talking to a lad earlier on about the seals he gave me a very handy tip on how to destroy a seal that gets close enough to you,(He was given the tip by a norweigan fisherman)i wont post it here too grusome and easy  on another note seen the irish coast guard went and put a full rescue into swing for a seal last week that was up on a beach trying to die and they then handed it over to the ISS so they can start playing with the ballance of nature again  what a waste of resources :?
