looking to buy a 15ft/16ft rod fixed spool and also a fixed spool reel it will be used on clean beaches ive £200 max to spend so anyone recommend a set up for me im currently useing a 13ft sonik sk3 and 12ft sks teamed up with a old shimano aerlex and 1 of the newer 8000 aerlex reels loking to have a go with a long rod but dont know if i should buy decent or buy a cheap 1 any ideas

In my opinion buying cheap lower quality tackle means buying twice, its always better to buy quality anyday. I reckon the penn affinity twin tip is one of the best out there and from time to time you do see reasonably priced second hand ones on the for sale section here. if its a new rod your after hear there's a new penn rampage out in and around 15ft and it won't break the bank, think Viking tackle in Bray have some in stock.

They have 15ft colmic rods in viking bray look a nice rod think are 140 look a nice rod

i have always used long rods i have had greys tripplex, the penn affinity, grauvell competition surf and now shimano surf leader all lovely rods but i would try get a cast first if i was you i have found the 15ft suits me better than 16ft i am sure a few lads on the site has some of the rods you are thinking of and wouldnt mind letting u try them
