Dublin Boat Marks (IMELDA) 4/11/2012

Postby JOHN1 » Sun Nov 04, 2012 10:57 am

People:myself harry a lad i know and his dads remains in an urn.

Duration:10.30 to 18.00

Tide:flood /ebb

Weather:fine sunny windy and cold

Bait:frozen crab mack sandeel mussell razor.

Rigs:various

Results:6 species whiting ,poorcod,pollack,cod,ling,ballen wrasse.

Report: This is my second attempt at this report so i will keep it short :?
as some of you know i was bringing a lad i know out today so he could scatter his fathers ashes.
so i decidet to kill two birds with one stone so to speak, so launched early to get a bit of fishing done before the service at 3pm  started off with a few pollack whiting and wrasse around the island's nothing better than about 2lb. so off we went going to head to another mark only to be met with a brisk wind against tide so rather than get lashed out of it we headed bact to the islands for a bit of comfort and a drop of tea 8)
started to get a couple of nice codling at this stage up to about 2lb at best before we knew it ,it was nearing the arranged pickup time so we did a quick tidy up of the boat before heading in.
so in we went and i dropped one sole ashore(harry) he wanted a break and a smoke :) and took two soles aboard only one needed a life jacket.
so with every thing put in place like a military manouver plenty of phone calls we went about spreading the ashes, to the delight of the family left on dry land all went to plan 8)
so another drop off i took har back on board to catch up on a bit of fishing.
we headed back to where we got the codling earlier, we didnt have to wait long and har was into probably the best fish of the day so the net was brought into play and a fine cod of 4.75lb is landed what a fish 8) with another couple of codling small pollack and poorcod we werq quite happy with our rewards,we called for another moove as it was starting to get dark at this stage we were only here about 10 minutes when my 6lb class uglystick arched over to the tune of a very good fish after a few minutes i was rewarded with a cracker of a Ling that brought the scales to just over 6lb 8) well wat a way to be rewarded that put great end to the day for us at least

Seanchaí, an Irish Gaelic word meaning “Traditional Storyteller”. These storytellers would travel around old Ireland, from place to place sharing tales of adventure and magic. It was a different age, before television and radio became the mainstay media for disseminating information. In those times a seanchaí would be invited into someone’s home, neighbors may also have been invited, and ancient tales passed down through the ages, were related.
“Storytelling is the art of portraying real or fictitious events in words, images, and sounds.”

Was meant to be a compliment John, brilliant stuff in the Pub afterwards when funeral attendees need a little distraction and anecdotes are most gratefully received by everyone - a little warning though, never heard of a Seanchaí dying of thirst
