Shrimp Flies - Emu Hackles

Postby nobuzz » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:33 am

Guys,

I've dug out some flies I tied 2-3 years ago but never got around to trying.

Shrimp flies using emu hackles to suggest the legs etc.

Feel free to copy, improve, etc. whatever.

They look good. Not so sure about the emu hackels after the get wet though. They would normally collapse. I prefere glister for the body of my shrimp flies. It's been a few years since I tied any though.

After they've been wet and dried out they lose their appearance but they still look the business when in water. They do get shredded pretty quickly though. Could do the same tying replacing the emu with a soft hen hackle.

Usually on forums there is a thread or topic where one can introduce himself to the forum members, some sort of short story who you are, where you fish etc.

Ah, right. Got you now.

No, we don't have one of those. People just sort of turn up, start posting and fitting in.

You're off to a good start with your first post. Welcome!
