Was down in Ardnahinch at the weekend - weed free for far as I could see either side but little surf (with the west wind). Good luck! Couple of early cod caught down that way already I hear!

Does anyone know how the weed situation is around Ballyb / Ballyc beaches at the moment? Was hoping to fish out that direction in East Cork tomorrow evening.

tried a few beaches last night. started at inch, moved to ballybrannigan, onto ballycroneen, then garryvoe. all covered in huge piles of kelp, didnt bother trying anymore so back to ballycotton pier where i blanked, smashed a lead off a lamp post which knocked out the light for 10mins  , snagged most casts, and lost 4 traces. should have stayed at home

Hope it not too late - I was at Ferrypoint last night - there are mounds of rotting weed piled up at the end of the point. I tried a few casts over it out into the deep channel but was snagging lots of weed. Worse when reeling in as I was catching a lot of weed over the last 10 m or so

PS. No fish either   .
