East winds

Postby LennyH » Sun May 01, 2011 7:34 pm

Was hopeing to get out tomorrow but the wind is 30km/h from the east, is this wind direction a real no go for fishing out of Dublin? Forget about trying to get the flyline out, was wondering would it turn the fish off? Everything else I think looks good, tide starting to rise at 04:30 sun rise at 05:50 and close to a new moon. Any input?

Thanks Jim. Think I'll give it a bash anyway. There has been and easterly blowing all week so hopefully will have washed some bait in close to the shore line.

L- I think its been blowing E/NE since about the 14th (gently) which is not too bad for fishing, its just in the last 3 or 4 days or so its turned a bit more nasty and difficult here in Wexford anyway.

Bendy for the morning

You can say that again went out this evening and had to give up after 30mins, fly was coming straight back at me most of the time and when it did die down for a moment I just kept getting caught in the weed. As i have you just have to say I love the stripping basket. Got one from you a few months back thy are invaluable.

Its tough out there allright guy - there will be loadsa days to come - fished wexford this morning from 05:00 to 09:00 in crystal clear conditions - no sign of life (terns, sandeel, waders etc) very cold but pleasant - drove to Cork and fished the rise from 12:00 to 17:00 in snots of wind and weed - having a rest and a pint at the moment planning tomorrow.....but it wont be much different.

glad the basket was useful - indespensible really!
