Has anyone ever tried the Blue Elver fly on Irish waters for Sea Trout? Just came across it on a sit any they swear by it for sea trout. They were using it in Scotland so just wondering would it travel.

Great fly for sea trout only prob with it is the vulturine feathers which form the sides of the "elver" are vey hard to get and if you can track them down v expensive. Great night time after dark sea trout fly

I saw that. Was thinking of using the feathers from the top of the jungle cock, they look a bit like them ie a dark colour with a white stripe running through them. Good to hear that they travel well. Thanks for the reply Pat.

I use those jungle cock feathers to tie them too and they work! Only thing is they are not as long as the vulturine so cant use them on bigger size hooks
