Talon Reel Seat

Postby dfella25 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 3:43 pm

Dear reel abusers,

Have you ever tried the Penn Talon Reel seat and put it through it's paces? And if so how would you rate it as opposed to coasters? The scenario above is only for when a reel seat is not an option.

Conor

i wasnt impressed with them at all couple times with handy fish on they allowed the reel to turn. the twisty thing for tightening it will get caught on the houseing of some multis and the plastic trigger at the bottom of it snapped off. so personaly i dont rate them

2 different opinions from people that used them and then Rodger's 2 cent  They look like they have to many fidley bits for sorting on a wet windy beach (like coasters!) that's why I'm wondering.

I have one for about 2 years or so. Never had any problems. No broken rods and no slipping of the reel, Landed tope and hauled alot with them. Prefer to coasters.

Bought one about 12 months ago and heard later of that problem so I tried them on an old rod.

I did not like the sounds it made when given a good squeeze.

There in the tackle box now free for anyone who want them
