most successful saltwater fly

Well in to another season, so would people comment on their best fly or flies and colours.
What colour is best?
What pattern?
Now i mean ones that caught fish of any kind!

Clousers would be my choice in chartreuse or white. (pollack ,mack, bass, one flounder)
Had first bass on a popper "gurgler" in chartreuse and white body.
(things slow this year and broke my rod too!)

Fished four different flies to catch four fish yesterday - is it the fly or how it's presented?

Size of the fly ,depth and speed it is fished.

Nothing else, I believe.

so...colour not a factor........
but should you not try to mimic the type of bait the fish are feeding on......
or would plain white work ....i have a plain white fly with an orange tip and a bit of flash...strange looking thing...must try it.....
So does the type of material the fly is made of matter!!
I like natural stuff like hair, fur or feather....
Am i wrong?
What i'm getting at here is ... would one fly in one colour and material be all you need...
And then vary the weight..one for top, one for middle, one for bottom...
I could put the rest of my collection on ebay and use the cash to get more lures!!
So if you had a choice of three flies....what would they be............

This is the age old debate.

The truth is no one knows the answer. In my personal opinion I believe that size is one of the greatest factors.

Try it with a cat. Put anything on the end of a line and pull it infront of the cat, they will chase it as long as it's not too fast or too big. Pollock and cats have the same predatory instinct.

PLEASE DON"T PUT A HOOK ON WHATEVER YOU PUT INFRONT OF THE CAT :D

the same debate/discussion can be had if you exchange fly with lure!

There is no doubt in my mind as regards bass fly fishing that color/size presentations and shape all have an influence on catches - knowing which works best is a question of experiences on home ground - over considerable time of course.
