Mullet Puddle

Mon May 18, 2009 11:04 pm

Fished a low tide mark tonight with the swf rod.
This "puddle" was packed full of small to very large Mullet.
Its a little bigger than a swimming pool about 2/3 feet deep.
Used a range of small flies but no luck.
i tried a black and green czech nymph (goldhead), a sawer killer bug and black and green gold head hare's ear, a maggot style and white egg/bread fly and shrimp (this was too big i think)
And a couple of others i cant remember the name of.
Some awesome fish in it ......
Fished right up to darkness, but they looked like they were not feeding though...
Any recomendations???
God ....its cold for May!!! :?

did you try ground baiting with bread. found in those situations you have to induce them to feed..

if you do manage to get them to feed in that situation they can be relatively easy to catch on breadflies

must try again with some bread and then fly, i know a spot on a beach where the big tides will flood over maggot laden sea weed ..waiting to have a crack....
