Orlock Head(Bangor), Kinnegar Rocks (Millisle), The Narrows (Portaferry) are maybe a few worth trying on the Co Down Side for SWFF, Expect Pollack, Wrasse, and Macks in Summer, The Narrows also has a lot of Sea Trout Marks.

cheers drew,
i had a few of those marks in mind, its good getting confirmation though.
Do you know of many who SWFF in these areas, it would be good having a chat at sometime!
Im determined to catch a mullet on the fly, i have seen some massive mullet in the lagan, and if they are there they are bound to be along the coast a bit!
the narrows!? i take its the mouth of strangford!

I am a fly fisherman who has just rediscovered the fun of rockfishing with my old spinning rod. THe idea of fly fishing off the rocks sounds brilliant. I am based around Belfast too and would love to get some info/contacts on SWFF in and around the area.
My kit is all set up for reservoir fishing and I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get kitted up for a few throws in the sea.

Please get in touch if you have any info or tips!

been catching a few macks on light spinning gear. It's great sport. Would love to get a mack on the end of my fly-line. I have been to Orlock a few nights when its been calm. Anybody ever thrown a fly line up there?

I headed to Orlock at the start of the year with the fly rod.Blanked of course but it was more of a case of a bit of casting practice where nobody would see me than trying to catch fish  Might give it another go before the end of the Mackerel season

PM me when you are thinking of heading and I'll try to come along. I would risk my reservoir kit and give it a bash. Wouldn;t feel so odd fly fishing in the sea if someone else was at it too!

there is plenty of pollock about orlock at the minute and most being caught close in so i reckon you boys would have a great chance with a sandeel pattern. you know my spot anyway jonny. have to have a fluff chucking session down there myself soon.

ha, ha. haven't seen you there in a while mate. i call it my spot because its very rare i see anyone else fish it, even though its the best mark along there. i've been catching good codling there at the moment but i suppose it would be tricky to catch one on the fly!!
